My name is Jen Kimmel and I came to be a birth worker, like many doulas, through my own birth experiences.  Two amazing births, both so different, but both supported by doulas.  They were the extra set of hands and reassuring presence that my partner and I needed to have the positive birth experiences that we wanted.  My first birth rocked me, awed me, and ultimately lit a fire in my soul that has left me feeling called to hold space for other women undergoing the same transformative experience.

I have worked in fitness for over ten years and focused my education and training on working with pregnant clients and new moms.  But I wanted to make a deeper connection and follow these women further on their journey and so my own journey to becoming a birth doula began. It has also become clear to me more recently that I feel like I can be helpful to new moms as well. That period of the first three months after our babies are born, the fourth trimester, can be one of the most challenging of our lives. I know it was for me. And so another chapter of my life is opening as I begin to work with postpartum clients as well.

I am a native Calgarian who feels most at home outside, hiking, biking, running, camping and generally getting sweaty and dirty!  I love a good book, a good massage, and a good vegan meal, in any order I can get them.  I enjoy travelling, baking and yoga.  I choose sweats over jeans, sweet over salty, and kind of like folding laundry.  I'd love to find out what makes you tick and how I can best support your goals.
